Visual narrative workshops by Giorgio Sitta. To build a story that is authentic, necessary and distinctive.

Giorgio Sitta

Two programmes for those who want to build a more conscious relationship with their visual language. The Anti-Hero's Journey leads through a narrative framework in first person, grounded in a real project. DIY Vision works on visual culture, attitude, references and autonomy.

Every programme begins with a conversation. No standard format — the shape emerges only after the context has been understood.

The method, the person

The visual narrative workshops are designed and led by Giorgio Sitta, photographer, filmmaker and visual communication consultant with over thirty years of professional practice. He is registered with Lombardia Film Commission and a member of Tau Visual, the Italian national association of professional photographers. These are not theory courses: every workshop is built on real cases, tools used daily in professional settings and direct practice with your own materials.

The approach does not separate technique from storytelling. Learning to compose a frame, choose a light or edit a sequence already means making narrative choices. This is the thread running through every workshop: each technical tool becomes a tool for meaning.

What remains afterwards

A workshop does not end with the last session. What remains matters more than what happens during it: an operational map, a more aware eye and a method you can apply straight away.

At the end of each programme, participants take with them:

  • A working archive with the materials produced during the sessions: exercises, shots, sequences, notes.
  • An operational checklist to keep working independently on the same goals without losing the thread of the method.
  • A shared vocabulary to talk about images, sequences and visual storytelling more precisely, useful both in individual work and in collaboration with others.

The method requires no specific equipment. It works with what you already have.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience in photography or video to take part?
No. The visual narrative workshops start from the story, not the technique. Familiarity with a device, even a smartphone, is enough to follow the sessions and produce real working materials.
Are the workshops held in person only?
I favour working in person. Some formats can run remotely, by video conference, only when necessary. The format is set at enrolment and depends on the number of participants and the group's specific goals.
How many people usually take part?
Workshops take up to twelve participants, to guarantee real individual work. Formats on request can involve larger groups, with a structure adapted to the case.
Can the Anti-Hero's Journey also be done with a company team or a public body?
Yes, in the in-house format: the framework applies to the story of a whole organisation. The method is described on antieroe.com.
